Assalamu alaikum parents,
JazakumAllah for connecting with our 6th gradeHomeroom class. I'm lucky enough to be your student's Social Studies and English LanguageArts teacher. Students rotate to Ustatha Moniza for Math and Ustatha Ghazala for Science. Please refer questions for those subjects to them, inshaAllah.
Our class has been working hard to set expectations for how and what we will be learning this year. An important element for success isstudent participation. This includes working collaboratively, following directions, being respectful, and doing their best.
To reward students for their effort, I will be starting a special Free Fridays program. Every day, I will be adding or subtracting points from individual students based on their participation in class. OnThursdays, students will be informed if they have earned time for Free Fridays. They are allowed to bring in electronics (with earbuds) or work on any other silent activity of their choice during that time.
Participation percentages will be calculated onThursday, and students who meet the percentageguidelines will earn a specific amount of free timeon Fridays:
100%-90%: 30 minutes
89%-80%: 20 minutes
79%-70%: 10 minutes
Students who receive 69% or less will continue toreceive direct instruction during that time. Theymay not bring electronics or any other item toclass for Free Fridays. Instead, they will benefitfrom more individualized attention from theteacher :)
